Introduction to Manage Your Time with Google Sheets
Transcript
Taking care of schoolwork, chores, activities, and other things going on in your life--all at the same time--can be a real challenge.
Managing your time is a useful skill for planning your day and making sure you complete all your responsibilities.
It also helps you find time to take care of yourself by hanging out with friends, practicing a hobby, or even just taking time to rest.
In this lesson, you will first spend a day creating a spreadsheet that shows how long you generally spend on tasks and activities.
Then, you’ll come back to the lesson and use the information you collected to see how you spend your time.
This will help you divide your time and find a balance between fulfilling your responsibilities and practicing self-care.
Spreadsheets can help you track time and organize other information, like goals, habits, or data.
Tracking your time in a spreadsheet can show you which tasks are taking significant amounts of time, and which activities you don't spend as much time on.
Some scheduling may be outside of your control, like caring for a family member or helping out around your house.
But when you do have the freedom to choose, knowing how you're spending your time can help you make fulfilling choices.
This lesson uses Google Sheets, but you could apply these skills and concepts in most other spreadsheet applications or even on a piece of paper.
If you'd like during this lesson, you can make changes to your spreadsheet with a screen reader.
This may make it easier to move around within the spreadsheet.
Click on the links next to this video to learn how to use a screen reader and other features.
As you complete this lesson, you will: create a new spreadsheet, list your activities, calculate how long you spend on each activity, and figure out how much extra time you have.
