Caption Your Comic Strip
This free lesson extension shows students how to use digital skills to explain the events in their comic strip.
Transcript
Some comic strips have captions that help explain a scene or event.
Captions are usually placed in boxes in a comic strip.
In this lesson, you will add captions to each frame, to tell what’s going on at each point in the story.
The captions provide details and inform your audience about the story’s background.
Use the information you wrote in your comic strip plan to write the captions.
To begin, open your comic strip.
Choose a frame and insert text for the caption.
Format the text to fit the frame.
Align it to show all the words in the caption.
Then make the caption stand out with a border.
And fill it with color.
Don’t worry if your caption is covering the objects in the frame.
Just rearrange them if you don’t want it to look that way.
Then, if you want to use the same style for other captions, duplicate it to add another identical caption to another frame.
And replace the text.
Use the same method to add more captions to your comic strip.
Now it’s your turn: Insert text in a frame, Format and align the text, Format the text box, Fill it with color, And duplicate and write more captions.
Use Word Art
Create an eye-catching title with Word Art.
Transcript
Word Art helps you create eye-catching text that grabs attention.
In this extension video, you will rewrite the title of your comic strip with Word Art.
To begin, remove your title from the comic strip and insert Word Art.
And then move the title to where you want to show it.
Format it with a font style you like.
Add color, A border, And a drop shadow that helps the title stand out.
A drop shadow adds depth to the letters so they appear to pop out of the drawing.
