In this video you will add a papel design in your presentation.

The paper will mimic the shape of a traditional papel picado which has cut out designs around the edges.

In Mexico, the color of the papel represents different meanings.

Orange and purple are often associated with Día de los Muertos because they symbolize religion and remembrance of a loved one.

If you’d like to find out the meaning of a certain color you can do a search online for papel picado colors and their meanings.

To begin, choose a theme for your papel picado.

Your theme should be a celebration of someone important to you.

Or you might choose to make a papel picado that describes you, your interests and your culture.

Other themes you might choose to celebrate are: A family member,  A pet, A friend, Or a person you have lost and want to honor.

Next, choose one of the papel options from the starter project.

You can choose a design you feel represents your theme best.

Then, copy the papel design you want to use and paste it in the blank slide.

Resize the papel to make it bigger.

It will be easier to decorate it if it fills up the entire page.

To keep the papel the same shape, be sure to resize it using the corner of the image.

Resizing it from the side will stretch out your image.

If you stretch it out and don’t like the way it looks, you can undo the action and try it again.

Once the papel is the size and orientation you want, arrange it to center it on the page.

Centering an image in a presentation keeps the page organized and looking clean.

The centering tool can also be used to center a title on a presentation or any image on a slide.

Now it’s your turn: Choose a theme, Copy and paste a papel design into your blank slide, Resize the papel, and arrange and center it on the slide.
