In this video, you will start planning your Juneteenth flyer.

Then, you will create a new Drawing, set it to flyer size, and add a headline.

As you create your drawing, you will have two tabs open -- your notes and your Drawing -- so you can go back and forth.

Now that you have learned about Juneteenth, think about what your ideal celebration would look like.

You might also want to check in your local area to see if there is already a Juneteenth celebration planned.

If there is, you can create a flyer to advertise that instead.

To begin planning your celebration, first think about who will be the audience for your flyer.

Are you planning a small Juneteenth gathering for just family members and friends at someone’s house?

Or would you like the whole community to come to a local park for the celebration?

You may even decide to plan a virtual celebration through Google Meet or another video conferencing tool.

If you haven’t already, add a note in your planning document about the type of celebration you will plan.

Next, look at the Juneteenth notes you took and decide what activities you will plan for your celebration.

You don’t need to include everything on your list, and you can also add other activities you can think of, too.

Finally, think about what you want the attendees to learn about Juneteenth and why it is important to celebrate it.

You may want to include a few facts on your flyer or plan activities that teach people more about it.

Now, that you’ve explored Juneteenth on Google Arts & Culture and have an idea of what to include on your flyer, go back to your Drive and create a new drawing.

Rename it what you would like.

For reference, keep your planning document open in another tab.

Next, set up your drawing so it is the size of a typical flyer.

Most flyers are the size of a standard sheet of paper.

Then, add a text box and headline text to your flyer The headline should get people’s attention and communicate the purpose of the flyer.

Place the headline where you want it and change its font and style to help people notice it.

You might also decide to make the text a different color.

Think about what message you are sending with your color choices, like red, white or blue to represent the Juneteenth flag or black, red, yellow, or green to symbolize Pan-African colors.

No matter what color you choose, be sure it’s easy to read on your flyer.

Now, it’s your turn: Create a new Drawing and rename it, Set it to flyer size, Add a headline, Place the headline where you want it, And change its style, font, and color.
