Print and Mail Your Postcard

Print your digital postcard and mail it.

Transcript

A digital version of a postcard is useful when you want to quickly share it with others.

However, there may be times when you want a printed version of your postcard to mail to someone or to add as a keepsake in a scrapbook.

In this extension lesson, you will print your digital postcard and mail it.

To start, open your digital postcard in Google Drawings.

Make sure you have paper in the printer.

It’s best to print your postcard on sturdy paper, like cardstock.

Cardstock is heavier and more durable for mailing than regular printer paper.

Next, preview your drawing to see how it will look when it’s printed.

This way, if you want to make changes to it, you can do so before printing it.

Then, go to your printer settings and select the printer you want to use.

Your printer may have different settings than what you see in this video.

In the settings, select the number of postcards you want to print.

If you have the option, choose to print in color rather than black-and-white.

Then choose a paper size for your postcard.

A 4x6 postcard closely matches the A6 size.

After you select your settings, print the postcard.

If you printed it on A4 or letter size paper, use scissors to cut out the postcard.

Next, write a brief message on the back.

Choose a location just for the message and leave room to write an address.

Then, address your postcard to the person you want to send it to.

The address is usually placed on the right side.

Now all you have to do is add a stamp and mail the postcard.

Now, it’s your turn: Open your digital postcard, Preview it, Select print settings and print it, Write a message, And add a stamp.

Replace The Postcard’s Tagline with a Fact

Replace the location tagline on your digital postcard with an interesting fact.

Transcript

Some postcards include interesting information about a location.

In this video, you will replace the tagline with a fact about the place on your postcard.

Your fact will provide a little information that your audience may find interesting.

To begin, open your digital postcard.

Delete the tagline on your postcard.

Next, think of a fact or something true about the place on your postcard.

You could add a fact about your place’s history, like when it was established, the climate, or population size.

It may help to search online to find a fact.

When you find one, enter it on the postcard.

Format it.

And move it to where you want it to display.

Now, it’s your turn: Replace your tagline with a fact, Format it, And position the text.

Download Your Digital Postcard as a PDF and Email It

Download your digital postcard as a PDF document and email it.

Transcript

In this lesson, you will download a P-D-F version of your digital postcard and email it to another student.

To begin, open your digital postcard.

Download it to your computer.

In Google Drawings, the available options for downloading depend on what your file contains.

Choose to save the drawing as a P-D-F document.

A P-D-F document is secure, meaning it cannot be changed, and it's convenient.

The person who receives your email can open the P-D-F using a number of free applications available online, and it will look the same as when you created it.

Next, sign in to your Gmail account.

Create a new email message.

Attach your postcard.

Your P-D-F document has the same name as your digital postcard and includes dot p-d-f at the end of the file name.

Then, send the email.

When you download a drawing, it is saved to your computer and is easily accessible for printing or sharing.

You can also access it at any time without going online.

Now it’s your turn: Open your digital postcard, Download it as P-D-F document, Attach the P-D-F in a new email message, And send it.
