Introduction to Create a Study Schedule to Meet Your Goals
Transcript
Setting a short or long term goal is a great way to improve yourself.
You might have a goal to get a job, go to college or trade school, or get a better grade on a test.
You’ll need a plan to reach your goal.
A step-by-step plan makes your goal feel reachable and motivates you to start working toward it.
Everyone comes from a different background and may have different goals that they want to meet.
Think about what is important to you and how creating a goal will help you accomplish something bigger.
For example, creating a schedule to study for a test will help you get better grades to get into college, trade school, military, or future employment.
In this lesson, you will create a schedule in a spreadsheet to help you plan for a future goal.
Spreadsheets are useful for categorizing and organizing information.
They are made up of cells, rows, and columns.
"Cells" make up the grid pattern where rows and columns meet.
A "row" is a horizontal line of cells, and a "column" is a vertical line of cells.
This lesson uses Google Sheets, but you could apply these skills and concepts in most other spreadsheet applications , or even on a piece of paper.
As you complete this lesson, you will: Create a new spreadsheet, format columns, add text, use data validation to create a dropdown list, and add and format dates.
To work on this lesson, sign in to your Google account.
Open a new tab in your browser, and navigate to "google.com" If you are not signed in, do so now.
If you do not have a Google account, pause the video and create one.
To begin, open Google Drive.
Create a new spreadsheet.
Next, think of a goal you want to accomplish.
For this lesson, choose a short-term goal with specific steps that can be followed, like "preparing for a test." Your goal might be to: Get an A on your Chemistry test, earn a spot on the school soccer team, apply for college or trade school, or get a job.
If you can’t think of anything right now, copy the example in this video.
Now, rename your spreadsheet.
If you’d like, you can use features within Google Sheets, like a screen reader, to make it easier to read.
Click on the links next to this video to learn how to use this and other features.
Now, it’s your turn: Create a blank spreadsheet in Google Sheets, and rename it.
