Use a Google Sheets Template to Make a To-Do List
Create a detailed task list for an assignment or project in Google Sheets.
Transcript
In this video, you will create a detailed to-do-list using a template in Google Sheets.
Keeping your due dates in one place is a great way to stay organized.
Using a template helps save time and allows you to add whatever details you want in order to keep track of your due dates.
When you use a template, most of the formatting has been completed.
You can focus on adding your own information for whatever events or assignments are coming up.
Even if you have your tasks and events organized in your Gmail side panel, a template might provide more structure.
The rows, columns, and cells in your template keep all of your task details separated and organized.
To begin: open your Google Drive, open a new Sheets to-do list template, and rename it.
Then, begin to add details to your list.
The to-do list template has columns for both the date...
...and task.
Add enough details to the steps in the Task column to make sure you know exactly how to complete that step.
You should include information about what you need to do, but you can also tell who, where, and when if needed.
Continue your to-do list.
If you need to use an online resource to complete a task in your list, you can add a link.
As you complete tasks in your list, check them off.
This will help you keep track of what you have completed.
If you need to go back to a task to redo or add to it, you can uncheck it.
For each due date that comes up in your calendar, you can create a new to-do list.
Now, it’s your turn: Open and rename a to-do list template, add dates and events to your list, and update your list as you complete your tasks.
Attach Files to Events in Google Calendar
Attach files to events in Google Calendar to organize and provide resources for assignments.
Transcript
In this video, you will attach a file to an event in your calendar.
Some events or assignments in your calendar might require information that comes from another source, such as a document.
Attaching the extra information to the event on your calendar is a good way to keep all of the information you need accessible.
To begin, open your calendar.
Then, choose an event to add an attachment to.
When you attach a file to a specific event in your calendar, you can access that file any time you look at the event.
Next, attach your file.
You can attach any file, such as a study guide, to help you prepare for a test or assignment.
Your attachment will remain with the event in your calendar.
You can add more than one attachment if needed.
Attaching important files is another step to getting your projects, tests, and other assignments organized now, so you can use them later! Now, it’s your turn: Open your calendar, find an important due date, and attach a file to it.
View Tasks in Google Calendar
View tasks you have added to your Gmail calendar using the Google Calendar.
Transcript
In this video, you will view your task list in your Google Calendar.
The task lists in your Gmail account allow you to quickly and easily find dates for completing tasks while checking your email.
However, viewing your tasks in your calendar can give you a more complete picture of what you have to do and when you have to do it.
To begin, open your calendar.
You can view your calendar in many different ways...
including weekly, monthly, and yearly.
Adjust the calendar view based on your preference.
For example, if you have a performance or test coming in the next two weeks, you can view by week or month, so you can see the upcoming event.
Look at your list in the "My Calendar" section.
Check the "Tasks" box if it is not already checked, so you can view all of the tasks with due dates that you previously added.
Then, click on one of your tasks.
This will give you an up-close view of the task details.
You can even mark the task complete if you finished it.
Being able to see all of your tasks together in a calendar format will help you determine how to best use your time.
You can think ahead about how to get all of your tasks done by their due dates.
Now, it’s your turn: Open your calendar, add tasks to your calendar, and view your tasks.
