Set Up Your Word Game
Transcript
In this video, you and your partner will set up your word game.
You have written a formula to create a random letter in a cell, but you will need ten random letters to play this game.
To begin, copy and paste the contents of cell A2 and A3 into the eight cells below them.
That will repeat your formula in all ten cells, so that each cell contains its own random letter.
Creating multiple sheets is a great way to organize information into different categories.
Look at the tab at the bottom of your spreadsheet.
Replace the title “Sheet One” with “Letters.” Next, each partner will create a new sheet in the spreadsheet.
Retitle the sheet with your name, so you know which one is yours.
Now look at the ten random letters in your Letters sheet.
Check for vowels.
If your ten letters do not include at least two vowels (A, E, I, O, or U), refresh your browser or hit “Delete” to get a new random assortment.
Once you have at least two vowels, copy all ten letters.
Now, open the sheet with your name on it, and paste the letters by selecting “paste values only.” When you paste values only, you will only paste the actual letters, rather than pasting the random letter function, which would give you ten new letters.
Your word game is ready! Move onto the next video to play.
Now, it’s your turn: Extend your random letter formula into eight more cells, Rename the original sheet, Create and rename your individual sheets, And use “values only” to copy and paste the ten random letters into your sheet.
