In this video, you will add details to your flyer about Juneteenth and the celebration you are planning.

Colors, images, and other visual elements make flyers appealing to look at.

Part of the purpose of your flyer is also to teach people about Juneteenth or give them facts they may not know.

Adding text to your flyer helps readers better understand its purpose.

To begin, think about what text you might include on your flyer.

Since the purpose of the flyer is to advertise a Juneteenth celebration, you might… Add a few facts about Juneteenth, List activities that will be part of your celebration, Add a poem or quote that inspires you, Or write a short summary of what you learned on Google Arts & Culture.

It’s also important to give people the date, time, and place of your celebration.

Add a text box and type that information now.

Don’t worry about formatting the text right now -- just get the information on the drawing.

Next, return to your planning document and decide what information about Juneteenth to include on your flyer.

It’s o-k not to not include everything on your list.

Also, leave room for visuals like images and shapes.

You will add those in the next video.

Next, add the information you want people to know about your celebration.

What kind of celebration will it be?

Should people bring anything?

Next, what activities will you be having at the celebration?

Now that you’ve added your text, format the style, color, and font of each sentence so it looks the way you want it to...

Change the text however you like, so it reflects how “you” would like to commemorate Juneteenth.

You can choose a different font, color, and style for each sentence or keep certain things the same.

Add emphasis to words or sentences that you want people to notice.

Adding bullets to certain details can make them more organized and easier to follow.

Align the text boxes to keep your information looking organized.

Now, it’s your turn: Add important details about Juneteenth and your celebration to your flyer.
