Download Your Timeline as a PDF and Email It

Download your timeline as a PDF and email it to someone you want to share it with.

In this video, you will download your timeline as a PDF and share it with someone through email.

Using a PDF file makes it easier to share your timeline with someone when you’re not sure what device they use.

A PDF file will display the same way for all devices.

To begin, return to your finished project from the main lesson...

...and download it as a PDF.

Next, open Gmail in a new tab.

Create a new email.

Add the person’s email address.

Add a subject line so the person knows what the email is about.

Now, write a message explaining why you are sending your timeline.

You might just want the person to check it out or you might want them to reply with feedback.

Finally, attach your PDF...

...and send the email.

Now, it’s your turn: Download your project as a PDF, open Gmail in a new tab, create a new email, add the person’s email, a subject line, and a message, attach the PDF, and send the email.


Add Word Art to Your Timeline

Add Word Art to your timeline to make it look unique.

In this video, you will make the title of your timeline into Word Art.

Word Art is a tool you can use to create words with different colors, borders, and fonts.

Word Art allows you to show creativity and make your timeline more eye-catching.

To begin, return to your finished project from the main lesson.

Since the title is in a noticeable spot on your timeline, it’s a good place to add Word Art.

First, delete the title’s text box.

Then, add the title back in as Word Art...

...and place it where you want it to go on the canvas.

Now, play around with the Word Art by changing the font,...

...fill color,...

...and border color.

Changing the font of Word Art will sometimes move the text a little, so resize and move the text box if needed.

Now, it’s your turn: Delete the title of your timeline, add your title as Word Art, place it where you want on the canvas, experiment with different fonts, fills, and border colors, and resize and move the text box if needed.


Write a Short Description of Your Timeline

Insert your timeline into a document and write a short description of it.

In this video, you will insert your timeline into a document and write a short description of it.

In a timeline diagram template, you don’t often have a lot of room for text.

A document provides more space to add extra details and discuss your thoughts and feelings about each event.

To begin, return to your finished project from the main lesson.

Download your timeline as a JPEG file.

If you uploaded your timeline into the class presentation in the main lesson, you should still have the downloaded file on your computer.

Then, create a new document and rename it.

Change the page setup to landscape orientation so you have more room.

Now, upload your timeline into the document.

If your timeline has GIFs, note that they will not animate when uploaded.

Insert a page break to get to the second page.

Then, begin writing one or two sentences about each past event in chronological order.

You don’t need to include the date for every event, but include it if it fits well and sounds natural.

Use words and phrases like then and the following month to make connections between sentences.

Add details that you couldn’t fit in your timeline.

Finish writing your paragraph about past events...

...and add a new paragraph about future events.

Now, it’s your turn: Download your timeline as a JPEG file, create a new document and rename it, change the page setup to landscape orientation, upload your timeline into the document, insert a page break, and write one or two sentences about each event in your timeline.
