Brainstorm Community Guidelines in a Document
Transcript
In this video, you will create a list of guidelines for how to prevent cyberbullying when communicating with others virtually and record them in your document.
Devices, such as smartphones or laptops, allow people to communicate quickly and easily.
But, it’s also easy to respond in a conversation or comment on a story before you have a chance to think about how it will affect someone else.
One way to help prevent cyberbullying is to consider guidelines before sending a message or creating a post.
To start, give your document a title.
Then, think of questions you might ask yourself before you post a message online or text.
If you’ve had personal experiences with cyberbullying or heard them from someone you know, use these experiences to brainstorm a list of questions or guidelines you think will help prevent cyberbullying.
If you are unsure what to include in your list, discuss with your classmates or teacher to gather more ideas about how to be kind and positive online.
Once you have some guidelines in mind, begin adding each idea on a separate line in your document.
You might also think about the consequences of what you are about to say or do.
Choose guidelines that you would want everyone to follow and that you would follow yourself.
You might also decide to create specific tips about good and bad times to communicate online.
Strong emotions like anger can cause people to post hurtful things they might regret later.
Type at least eight guidelines or tips.
Now, it’s your turn: give your document a title, brainstorm questions or guidelines that can help prevent cyberbullying individually or with your classmates, and type at least eight guidelines in your document.
