Create a Community “My Map” Wrap up
Transcript
In this lesson, you created a custom map in Google My Maps that features locations that are important to you, your culture, or your community.
You learned that people value different places in their community due to their identity, cultural background, and interests.
By sharing your map with a partner, you were able to showcase the places that matter to you and learn about the places that matter to your classmate.
As you completed this lesson, you: Brainstormed locations in your community that are important to you, Added three to five locations to your map, Edited your location markers to customize the description and image of each one, Shared your custom map with a partner, And read your partner’s map to learn what locations are meaningful to them.
You also learned that some maps are unfair and do not always represent every community equally.
You can use digital tools like My Maps to communicate and spread awareness about what matters to you and your community.
Sharing with others about what you value is an important skill you’ll use in the future.
Sharing information about yourself makes it easier for others to get to know you and for you to see another person’s perspective.
