Publish Your Website

In the last videos, you and your group members each wrote different parts of the website you will use to test your movie posters.

In this video, one person in your group will publish your website so that your classmates can use it and you can collect data.

Make sure everyone in your group has completed their part of the code and you don't get any error messages when running the code.

Help your group members finish the code or ask your teacher if you need help.

Only one person will deploy the app, but all of you can work as a team to complete the steps.

Gather your group at one computer.

From any screen in the script editor, choose "Deploy." Select the settings you see on your screen.

Change the access settings so that anyone with the link-- like your friends and family-- can vote on your movie posters.

Then, click "Deploy." Now there is a single URL that users can use to access the app.

Click the link.

There it is! Now, share the voting app link.

Copy the URL from the website and paste it in an email.

Send the message to your group members and your teacher.

After one group member sends the link, return to your own computer.

Open your group member's message and open the app using the link.

Check it out! The computer randomly selects one of your group's movie posters and asks the user "Does this poster make you wanna see the movie?" Cast a sample vote.

The alert box appears, thanking you for your vote.

Click "OK" and refresh the page to see the next randomly-chosen poster.

Check out your spreadsheet.

Now, the name of your poster and the vote you cast is recorded in your spreadsheet.

Your partners' responses will appear there, too, in the first tab of the spreadsheet, in two separate columns.

Terrific! Your app is working perfectly! Get ready to display your website to the rest of your class.

Close the pop up message and refresh the webpage so that your app is ready for more users.

You may see a new poster, or you may see the same one.

This is because the random function in your code returns a random poster each time the webpage refreshes.

When everyone in the class is ready, you will walk around the room and vote on the posters at everyone's computer.

When you vote, you aren't comparing the posters or deciding which poster is best.

Instead ask yourself, "Does this poster make me want to see this movie?" Once you have at least 15 votes in your spreadsheet, move on to the next video to analyze the results of your A-B test.

Now, it's your turn: Gather at one computer to deploy the website.

Copy the website URL and email it to your other group members and your teacher.

Return to your own computer and open the app using the link in your email.

Test the website by casting a vote.

Collect data from your classmates-- at least 15 votes.

Finally, move on to the next video to analyze the data.
