In this activity, your group will review movie ideas and select your three favorites to analyze further.

Before producers decide to make a movie, they select elements and storylines they think movie-goers will like.

To do this, they make hypotheses or informed guesses, about elements that will be successful.

Then, they infer, or make predictions about, which movie ideas will be the most profitable.

In this activity, you will review ten movie ideas that include a genre, storyline, and actors.

You will use your own intuition and experience to select profitable movies and make comments in a document to help you discuss your thoughts with your partners.

Then, your group will make a list of your favorite movies and link to headings with information about each one.

In order to make money, a film's box office returns must be greater than its budget.

That is, the film must earn more money than it takes to produce it.

But there is no magic formula that can predict a successful movie or any other product.

In today's society, lots of devices and services collect data.

But it takes a person like you to analyze and make decisions about that data.

And decisions take a certain amount of intuition, or feeling, too.

Data may suggest that you choose one movie, but your intuition may lead you to make a different decision.
