Adjust Text on Your Document
Transcript
In this video, you will adjust the text in your celebration plan to make it easier to read. Changing the way your text looks on the page is called “formatting.” You can format sections of your text to make it stand out from the rest.
This helps a reader know which parts of your text are the most important, such as headings, titles, or key words.
Plus, it makes your document easier to read.
Any time you wish to format your text, you will need to select it first.
To select text, click and hold the mouse or trackpad button down as you move across the text you want to format.
This action is called a “click and drag.” When something has been selected, it will be highlighted in light blue.
Find your title, “My Ideas,” at the top of your document.
Since “My Ideas” is your document’s title, make those words larger than the other text.
Once you have selected “My Ideas,” click the “Increase font size button” in the toolbar to make the text larger. Every time you click this button, your text size will increase.
This will make it stand out from the other text in your document.
Now, move your title to the center of the page.
Make sure the words “My Ideas” are still selected.
Then, click on the “Align” menu in the toolbar.
In the menu that opens up, click on the icon that shows four lines centered in a small white space.
If you hold your pointer over that icon, it will say “Center align.” Click “Center align.” The words “My Ideas” move to the center of the line.
Now, find the word “Occasion.” Select “Occasion” by clicking it twice, or by clicking and dragging to select the word.
Click the "B" on the formatting toolbar to bold the text on the word “occasion.” Bolding a word makes it darker so it stands out on the page.
The bold text indicates that the word “occasion” is the heading for a section of text.
Now that you know how to bold a word, go through your document.
Select and bold the words “Date,” “Location” and “Guests.” This will emphasize these words in the document.
Now it’s your turn: Select “My Ideas,” Increase font size and center align it, And select and bold “Occasion,” “Date and time,” “Location,” “Guests.” When you’re finished, switch to the tab with the videos on it and click "Next."
