In this lesson, you will create a blog featuring content based on a fictional blogger to practice sharing information responsibly online.

Blogs give people the chance to share all kinds of personal stories and ideas with people all over the world.

For this lesson, you will choose a fictional blogger to ghostwrite for.

Ghostwriting a blog for an imaginary person will help you practice sharing information safely online.

Sharing information online helps connect you to family and friends, and lets you share school or professional work with people you may not know.

However, it’s necessary to think carefully about what you share online and how others might use it.

Sharing personally identifiable information, or “P-I-I,” can affect your personal safety.

Sharing P-I-I online can have serious consequences.

For example, anyone could use personal details about you to open financial or online accounts in your name, find your physical location, or even pretend they are you on social media.

This is called identity theft.

It’s also important to know that the information you share stays accessible for a long time.

That means that, even far in the future, This doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy sharing and posting about yourself.

Instead, carefully consider what you say and do online and how it might affect you, both today and later in life.

If done safely, sharing information online is a fun and rewarding activity.

This lesson uses Google Sites, but you could use these skills with any website building tool.

Google Sites is a free web creation application for building websites and blogs.

Your blog will be saved in your Google Account, so you can access it from Google Drive.

When you’re using Google Sites, it might be helpful to use keyboard shortcuts.

If you have difficulty using a mouse, keyboard shortcuts could make it easier to interact with Google Sites.

Then make copies.

Look at the information in each blogger profile and choose a blogger you would like to ghostwrite for.

The profiles contain personal and professional details, and a brief summary of the blogger’s ideas for the blog.

For now, you don’t need to review the section about the blogger’s favorite places.

Once you have selected a blogger that interests you, you’ll review the information they’ve included to decide what is safe to share.

When another person gives you access to private information, you must be sure to keep their safety and security in mind at all times.
