Insert Your Own Icons
Transcript
In this video you will add your own custom icons to your papel.
Think about and choose an icon that represents or honors your subject in some way.
For example, if your papel is about you and you love music you might choose a music note to represent this part of yourself.
You might choose a camera if you take pictures or a soccer ball if you play on the school team.
If you want to make your papel look more traditional for Día de los Muertos, search for images of the sun, butterflies or candles.
To begin, explore new icons by inserting a shape, Next, search online for an icon that is more specific.
Decide on an image you would like to search for that represents your theme.
Search for an image and make sure you have the right to use the image.
Add the words, “transparent background” to your search so the icon you find will not have a background color.
"Transparent" means that something allows light to pass through it.
A transparent background will let you see the color of your papel behind the image rather than a square block behind it.
Insert the new icon on your slide, Resize it, And relocate it.
Adjust the icon color by changing the brightness until the icon turns white to mimic a paper cut out.
Get creative and make new patterns with your icons.
You can use tools like align and distribute to help place the icons where you want them.
Repeat these steps for one more icon or shape so you have three new icons added.
Then, copy and paste the new icons to create more patterns.
Now it's your turn: Insert a shape, Search online for two new icons and insert them, Resize, relocate and copy the icons, Change the brightness to make them white, and arrange the icons evenly.
