When you start a new job, prepare yourself by being on time, dressing right, and communicating.

Preparing for your new job gives you the best chance of having a successful and stress-free work experience.

While you can’t prepare for every situation that may happen at work, planning makes challenges easier to handle.

In this video, you will create a table in a document to collect important information about your job.

You should know the exact location of your new workplace, how long it will take to get there, how you should dress, and what questions you should ask managers and coworkers to help you get started.

Creating a table makes it easy to organize and update information.

To begin, insert a table with two columns and three rows.

In the left column, type in the following row heading labels: “Company Name,” “Address,” and “Shift Time.” Headings identify what each row is about.

In the second column, write the name of the business where you are working.

If you are not currently working, use a business where you might like to work in the future.

Open a new tab on your web browser.

Keep your document open in another tab so you can go back and forth.

Go to maps.google.com.

Then, search for the name of the business.

If you find multiple results for the business name, select the appropriate location, or one that is close to you.

Copy the address and paste the information in your document.

Then, enter the time of your first shift.

If you don’t have a job yet, choose a time when you could work based on your current schedule.

Knowing your exact schedule helps you get to work on time.

Arriving on time shows you are serious about your job and impresses your manager.

Impressing your manager helps with finding better jobs in the same business or with getting a positive reference for a new job.

Strong references mean more new job possibilities in the future.

You also help your coworkers by being on time, because they must work longer shifts to make up for your time or need to work twice as hard because you are not there.

In the next video, you will use Google Maps to find the quickest route to work, which will help you arrive on time.

Now, it’s your turn: Create a table in a document, Add headings for company name, address, and shift time, Search for the address of your workplace or a local business, And add the times you need to be at work.
