Communicate Professionally On The Job
Transcript
In this video, you will make a list of questions you’d like to ask on the first day of your new job.
Asking questions makes you more effective at your job and helps you build strong relationships with your managers and coworkers.
Find times during the day when coworkers are not busy and ask them questions that will help you with your job.
By listening to coworkers and observing your workplace, you gain additional insight into people and your surroundings.
To begin, brainstorm questions you might ask managers or coworkers on your first day.
Or, if you’re already working at the job, think of things you want to know more about.
Create a title for this new section.
Format it to make it stand out.
List these questions below the table on your document.
Ask questions, such as: What should I focus on doing today?
Who do I talk to when my manager is not available?
How will you evaluate my performance?
Who are a few people I should try and meet this week?
What’s your name?
Where is the bathroom?
Where do you usually go for your break?
As you have time, ask your managers and coworkers the questions you listed.
Asking questions will help you find out more about your job, help you get to know your coworkers, and will show your managers that you have a genuine interest in your work.
Now, it’s your turn: Create a list of questions for managers and coworkers.
And add the questions to your document.
