Present Yourself Professionally
Transcript
Another important part of presenting yourself professionally is in the way you dress.
In this video, research what kinds of clothing are appropriate for your workplace.
Professional dress will vary based on the job.
Appropriate work clothes will look different for an office, a movie theater, or a restaurant.
Many employers provide information on how you should dress.
For example, you may receive an employee handbook that tells you what to wear.
Other places of business require you to wear a uniform.
Whether or not there’s a dress code, the clothes you wear should allow you to perform your job duties easily, comfortably and safely.
For example, you wear closed-toed shoes on a construction site and not sandals.
If there is no dress code at your workplace, or if you have not been hired yet, perform an online search for how someone in your job should dress.
To begin, open a new tab and go to Google.com.
In the search box, type a question about how to dress.
Add your job title or the business type where you will be working.
After you find the type of clothing you should wear for your new job, return to your document.
Add a new row to the table.
Label the first column “Dress Code.” Add what you found during your internet search or enter the dress code provided by the employer.
If you have any questions about the suggestions you find online, ask your coworkers and managers when you get to work.
