In this lesson, you'll create a digital card to express appreciation for a person who has done something positive for you, your school, or your community.

Showing appreciation can make others in your school and community feel good, and make you feel good, too.

It's important to show appreciation when someone helps you, makes an extra effort, or does their job well.

Saying "thank you'' communicates that you value the time and effort that person took to make your life a little better.

Expressing gratitude builds a stronger, more supportive community for everyone.

In this lesson, you will create an interactive card in the form of a slideshow to express your appreciation.

With a slideshow, you can express your thanks one phrase or sentence at a time.

As the slides advance, your message unfolds and surprises the recipient.

You might make a card to say thank you, or for a holiday, cultural celebration, or a school event, like graduation or Teacher Appreciation Week.

A paper card usually gets sent in the mail or is given in person.

For a digital card, you can email your appreciation.

Using a digital presentation allows you to personalize your thank you message.

A digital presentation is flexible, easy to update, and customizable.

Using a digital app means your card will last forever and can be accessed at any time.

This lesson uses Google Slides, but you could build your thank-you card using any presentation application.

As you complete this lesson, you will: create a presentation, choose someone to thank, add slides and text to your presentation, preview your presentation, and share your slides with the recipient by publishing it online or emailing a link.

This lesson uses Google Slides, but you could apply these skills and concepts in any presentation application.

Google Slides is a free application for creating presentations.

Your presentation will be saved in your Google Account, so you can access it from Google Drive.

When you're using Google Slides, it might be helpful to use a screen reader.

If you have difficulty using a mouse, a screen reader could make it easier to interact with Google Slides.

Click on the links next to this video to learn how to use this and other features.
