Insert Images in Your Presentation
Students add images to their digital thank-you card in Google Slides.
Transcript
In this extension, you will add images to your presentation to personalize your card and make it visually appealing.
To start, open Google Drive.
Find the thankâyou card you made during the main lesson.
Next, if you published your presentation to the web, unpublish your presentation so you can make changes.
You can publish it again later.
Add an image to your title slide to make it more visually appealing.
Make sure you have the right to use the image.
Then, insert your image.
Adjust the text in your title to make space for the image.
Then recenter your title.
Add at least two more images to your presentation.
Now, it's your turn: search for an image, make sure you have the right to use the image, insert the image, and search for and add two more images in your presentation.
Add Animations and Transitions
Students will add animations and slide transitions to their digital thank-you card in Google Slides.
Transcript
In this extension, you will add animations to your slides and transitions between slides.
Effects like animations and transitions add movement to your slides.
They engage your audience and help you share your message in different ways.
To start, unpublish your presentation so you can make changes.
You can publish it again later.
Next, choose a part of your presentation to animate.
Animation helps draw attention to a specific element.
You can animate any element in your presentation, such as text, images, or shapes.
Choose from the list of animation effects.
Decide how you want your animation to function and when you want it to move.
Test different animations in present mode until you find the one that works best for your presentation.
Adjust the speed of the animation until you are happy with the effect.
You can also insert an object or image to animate.
Make sure you have the right to use the image.
Then, insert your image.
And animate the image.
Animate the closing message of your presentation in a way that will leave a lasting impression on your audience.
Next, choose a transition.
A "transition" is a visual effect that occurs when slides advance.
Transitions can help your digital presentation flow and keep your audience interested.
Apply the same transition to all your slides, or choose different transitions for different parts of your presentation.
While using transitions adds movement to your digital thank-you card, too many different transition types can be distracting and draw your audience's attention away from your message.
When you've added a transition, preview it.
Preview how the transitions look throughout your entire presentation in Slideshow mode.
Remove any unnecessary animations or transitions before you publish or share your card.
Now, it's your turn: add animations to your slides, adjust the effects and speed of the animations, and choose transitions to appear between slides.
Customize Your Text with Word Art
Students will update their digital thank-you card title slide with Word Art.
Transcript
In this extension, you will use Word Art to add extra emphasis and excitement to the text in your digital card.
"Word art" is a tool you can use to add text with various colors, borders, and fonts.
To start, unpublish your presentation so you can make changes.
You can publish it again later.
Make a copy of your title slide so that you can compare the original version to your Word Art title slide.
Then, on your duplicate slide, copy the text from your title.
Delete the title text box.
Then insert word art to add a creative version of your title to your presentation.
Repeat the same steps to replace the subtitle text with Word art.
Resize and reposition the title and subtitle as you like.
Next, adjust the style of your Word art.
A font style can express a mood or a feeling.
Often, just by looking at the text, a reader can tell if a subject is serious, fun, or even silly.
Choose a new font for your Word Art that fits with the subject of your presentation.
You can make changes to multiple items at the same time by grouping them.
Select both the title and subtitle box by holding down the shift key on your keyboard and clicking on each text box.
Then, group them together.
Adjust the size of the grouped Word Art to fit on your slide.
To make changes to a single item, ungroup the items.
Format your title and subtitle how you'd like.
Choose a fill color for your Word Art.
Add a border to your Word Art and adjust the border thickness.
Now, compare your original title slide to your new title slide and choose which you would like to keep.
Delete the slide you are not keeping.
Now, it's your turn: make a copy of your title slide, replace the title slide text with Word Art, group and ungroup Word art objects together, and add a fill color and border to your Word Art.
