Replace and Move Images to Create Your Collage
Transcript
In this video, you will make copies of your first image and then replace the image to show the other people and places you want to include in your collage.
Then, you'll move and order your images.
To start, make a copy of your first image and paste it into your drawing.
Copying the image will maintain the same shape and size for the rest of your images.
Use the keyboard shortcut CONTROL + C or COMMAND + C to copy the image.
Use the keyboard shortcut CONTROL + V or COMMAND + V to paste the image.
Make three additional copies so you have five in total.
Replace the first copy with an image of another person or place you've chosen to include in your collage.
Then replace the rest of the images.
Move the images around within their masks to focus on the most important part of the image and hide the rest.
You can also resize the images, if necessary.
Next, move your images into a consistent design.
"Consistency" is a design principle that means keeping sizing, spacing, and other design elements the same.
A consistent design focuses attention on the important message you want to communicate, instead of drawing attention to the size and spacing of the images.
If your collage uses inconsistent sizing and spacing, it might be difficult to focus on the images themselves, instead of the disorganized layout.
Practicing consistency can make your collage and other art or visual projects look more polished and appealing.
Consider where you want each image.
For example, if you feel that one person or place influenced you the most, you might place their image at the center of your collage.
Move your images to where you want them in your collage.
Line up the images so the edges match.
This will help with consistency.
Drag your text boxes above or below the corresponding images.
Adjust the size of the text box to fit your text.
Center the text within the text boxes.
Finally, center the text boxes over or under the hexagons.
As you move your text boxes, use the ruler guidelines to help you.
Now, it's your turn: make four copies of your image, for a total of five hexagons, replace each copy with a different image, and move your images and text boxes to create a collage.
