Introduction to Introduce Yourself in Google Slides
Transcript
In this lesson, you will create a slide to visually introduce yourself to your class.
Later, you will combine your slide with your classmates’ slides in a presentation.
Think about the groups you belong to, like your class, a church group, or a school club or team.
Each member of a group has things they’re good at and things that make them special or unique.
For example, you may bring your musical talent to a choir or band you belong to.
Or, if your cultural heritage is important to you, you may have stories you want to share about your traditions with your class.
Just like you bring your own special qualities and interests to the groups you belong to, other people bring their own special qualities and interests too.
Life would be really boring if everyone was exactly alike! Even if you already know your classmates and teacher, this lesson will help you learn about them even more.
It will also help you express yourself visually in Google Slides.
Using digital tools gives you the freedom to add images and whatever else you would like to represent yourself to your class.
This lesson uses Google Slides, but you could apply these skills and concepts in most other presentation applications.
As you complete this lesson, you will… Brainstorm things you would like to share about yourself on a slide, Choose a background for your slide, Add images and text to your slide that represent you, And animate your slide.
Then, you will… Make your slide unique by creating an emoji or a rebus puzzle, Add speaker notes to your slide, And import your slide into a class presentation.
To work on this lesson, sign in to your Google account.
Open a new tab in your browser, and navigate to google.com.
If you are not signed in, do so now.
If you do not have a Google account, pause the video and create one.
Then, create a new Google Slides presentation and rename it.
Next, insert a comment.
Then, brainstorm five things about yourself that you would like to share with your classmates and teacher.
If people already know you well, include things that they may not know.
You do not have to include anything that is too personal.
As you brainstorm, think about… Something you could share about your cultural heritage and traditions, like holidays you celebrate or foods you like to eat, Something you like to do, or are good at or interested in, Something you like about yourself or are proud of, A community or world issue you care about, Or how you prefer to learn, for example, by listening to information...
Or doing an activity, like an experiment.
Type what you would like to share in the comment.
You’ll use the comment to remind yourself of the five things that you will use on your slide to tell about yourself.
In a later video, you’ll use images and text to represent these things visually.
Now, it’s your turn: Sign in to your Google account, create a new presentation, rename it, and insert a comment with five things about yourself that you will use in your slide.
